Summary
Project developed in order to modernize the radio and telco resources and information systems supporting APBA and Port Community procedures as regards to operational coordination, protection and on-site port control, with the following targets:
- Improve the radio communication intended for the protection and port control considering an optimum use of radio communications through standardised broadband or in the process of standardisation under 3GPP.
- Become an instrument to respond to routine work procedures and emergency situations, coordinating and transmitting useful, relevant and accurate information with the intervention teams on site.
- Integrate the new radio communications resources into a global information management environment, turning them into a single block together with other communication and information systems of the APBA currently in use or expected to be put into service in the future.
- Improve the users experience and the understanding of an emergency situation through the exchange of multimedia information and real-time video broadcast service.
- Implement integration services and cooperation of itinerant operating group and coordination centres.
- To be prepared for the construction of data routing, and actuator devices, using the standardized communication protocols for IoT by 3GPP.
The project’s innovation:
- The SACR is the first private LTE network in the national and European port systems that provides standardized broadband services for coordination and emergency operations, and is prepared for massive and mission-critical IoT.
The project’s product:
- The project’s final product is a network infrastructure for radio access, covering the Port Authority’s entire responsibility area and services provided by multipurpose radio terminals and Operations Centre posts.
Applicability:
- The new system has teleservices (telecommunication service that provide full communication capacity between users) and supplementary services defined by the TETRA and Critical Communications Association, and Ratified by the association groups under 3GPP.
- Offers high bandwidth data services and terminal versatility for the management of coded information; and high-density narrow band services for telemetry and sensing.
- Provides high protection of accesses to services and channel encryption, with exclusive operating frequencies and high availability mechanisms.
- It provides endless possibilities for functional expansion, from data collection through, the standardized NB-IoT and LTE-M services to any centralized query or report service in the Port Security Control Centre.
- Integrates information systems natively and interconnects other radio media and communication systems used in the APBA (maritime radio, Unified Communications, public telephone service).
- Provides specific applications, optimizing the exchange of information of the itinerant groups of the Port Community, subordinating the daily routines, the relationship methods and the information formats.
- Provides great user experience due to the similarity with 4G terminals and public services, and the use of broadband communication services, such as video conferences.
To develop a better understanding of the SACR, this video contains a summary of the project and the benefits of the deployment of this new advanced communication system to the Port of Algeciras.
