At a key moment for the digital transformation of Andalusia’s productive fabric, the Port of Algeciras is positioning itself as one of the pillars of the Misión Andalucía initiative—an ambitious program driven by the Andalusian Government and various local partners to promote technological entrepreneurship in strategic sectors.
This mission offers programs tailored to the needs of digital-based start-ups and entrepreneurial projects, enabling them to develop and validate solutions to real-world problems in an environment equipped with strategic resources, key business connections, and investment opportunities. Specifically, the initiative is structured around four innovation centers across the autonomous community, one of which is located at the facilities of the Algeciras Bay Port Authority (APBA), with a clear focus: to revolutionize maritime and port logistics.
During the presentation of the call, the Minister of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue, and Administrative Simplification, Antonio Sanz, explained that the Digital Entrepreneurship Center at the Port of Algeciras is aimed at “driving projects that contribute to modernizing the supply chain, from solutions for energy efficiency and security to integrated logistics management platforms or autonomous vehicles supporting port operations.” He also stated that this space “aims to position itself as the logistics innovation lab of Southern Europe.”

The acceleration program has been designed with a 100% specialized focus on Port Logistics, a strategic sector for the Andalusian economy, with the Port of Algeciras Bay being one of Europe’s main maritime hubs.
Projects applying to the acceleration program—which is open until September 8—can be at any stage of maturity and development, and it is not mandatory for them to be legally incorporated. Participating projects will receive an initial assessment and be assigned a specialized mentor. Throughout the program, they will take part in practical workshops, online masterclasses, networking events, and one-on-one mentoring tailored to each project’s needs.
Projects aspiring to join the acceleration program will be evaluated based on their value proposition, level of innovation, market differentiation, and scalability potential—especially if they address specific sectoral challenges. The use of digital technology, whether as a native model or as an operational enhancement, will also be assessed, along with the motivation, commitment, and complementarity of the founding team. Additionally, the project’s technical development and validation maturity, economic viability, business model sustainability, and potential impact on the region’s economic and social development will be considered, with special attention to its contribution to Andalusia’s digital entrepreneurial ecosystem.
