On April 22nd, in the facilities of the Maritime Station of the Port of Algeciras, began the Professional Training Employment program on digital specialties in 5G coverage environments.
This project, with a total budget of 4.8 million euros, is led by the Junta de Andalucía, through the Consejería de Empleo, Empresa y Trabajo Autónomo, and has the collaboration of Vodafone and Integra Conocimiento & Innovación, as awarded managers of the program.
The main objective of this project is the education and training of Andalusian professionals in new technological skills, so that they can increase their employability in view of the Digital Transformation processes that companies are currently carrying out.
The Port Authority of the Algeciras Bay (APBA) collaborates directly in this ambitious program, since the Port of Algeciras itself has been designated as a 5G training center for the province of Cadiz, along with the cities of Seville, Malaga, Jaen (Villacarrillo) and Huelva. In this way, it is pursued to develop one of the lines marked by the talent management program of the APBA, the initiative known as the Algeciras Port Digital Academy, by facilitating the training of the population of the region in certain subjects and specific technologies, as is the case of 5G technology, one of the most demanded skills today.
For this reason, the APBA has conditioned and equipped a specific training classroom, with 5G connectivity and approved by the Ministry of Employment, in the facilities of its Maritime Station, in order to carry out the training sessions, thus giving a boost to the program.
The project has a duration of 2 years and will train more than 3,000 Andalusians, with the development of 72 editions so that they can be professionally trained in 5G technology. Specifically, in Algeciras, 9 training actions with a duration of 150 hours each, in which a total of 405 people will be able to participate, are planned to be given.
The training actions will focus on three specific specialties in 5G environments: (1) Internet of Things (IoT) and SmartCities, (2) Artificial Intelligence and Big Data and (3) Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.
The courses are taught in hybrid format (80% online and 20% classroom) and are free of charge. At the end of the training program, students will be accredited with a diploma from the Junta de Andalucía.
