On 30 October, the Innovation Committee of the Port of Algeciras Bay organised a new working meeting with the objectives of updating the activities of the Committee and the Port Authority of Algeciras Bay (APBA), strengthening the open innovation scheme and the start-up ecosystem, and presenting new innovative projects, among others.
On this occasion, the session was held at the facilities of the Campo de Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce, as part of the commitment to rotate the venues of the meetings among the entities that make up the Committee, and thus get to know first-hand the companies in the region’s logistics-port and innovation ecosystem.

Jesús Medina, Head of Technological Development at the APBA and Chairman of the Committee, opened this new meeting, which continued with the presentation of a new member: Continental Parking, as a Vocal Member.
During the session, the main initiatives underway within the Committee’s various lines of work were reviewed, highlighting the results obtained in the 3rd Call for Commercial Projects of the Ports 4.0 Fund, promoted by the State Ports Authority. Participants were also encouraged to identify current business challenges and to collaborate in defining proposals for the 4th Call for the Fund.
As part of the drive to promote digital entrepreneurship, two of the three new start-ups joining the Port of Algeciras Digital Entrepreneurship Centre, which focuses on port logistics and is promoted by the Regional Government of Andalusia and the Misión Andalucía initiative, were presented. César de la Torre, Co-Founder & CTO of Panssari, and Manuel García, Founder & CEO of Wdtech, shared their start-ups and innovative proposals with the audience.

The session concluded with the section ‘Innovations by Algeciras’, in which three new innovation projects developed in collaboration between companies in the ecosystem were presented: APBA & Navozyme, Bernardino Abad & WISeKey, and Moeve & Gibraldrone, reflecting the dynamism and great potential of the local digital ecosystem of the Port of Algeciras.
To close the event, attendees enjoyed a cocktail networking session, which facilitated the exchange of ideas and experiences between companies in the Port Community, start-ups, consultants and entrepreneurs, reinforcing synergies and commitment to collaborative innovation in the Port of Algeciras Bay.
