The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) participated in the 2nd EFE Cybersecurity Awareness Congress – Campo de Gibraltar, a leading event organised by EFE Cybersecurity, which brings together professionals, companies, public administrations, educators and citizens with the aim of promoting a culture of digital security and awareness of the risks of the digital environment.
The Congress, held on 21 February at the Casino Admiral in San Roque, has established itself as a forum for the exchange of knowledge and experiences in the field of cybersecurity, information protection, responsible use of technology and digital resilience, addressing these challenges from a cross-cutting perspective that integrates the professional, social and educational spheres.
During the conference, there were various presentations and discussion forums addressing key issues such as cyber fraud prevention, data protection, security in corporate and critical environments, public awareness and the role of training as an essential element in strengthening digital security. The programme also included networking opportunities aimed at promoting collaboration between public entities, technology companies and local stakeholders.

The APBA’s participation in this meeting is part of its commitment to the protection of critical infrastructure, cyber resilience and the secure digital transformation of the port system, in a context in which ports play a strategic role in national and international logistics and transport chains. Alejandro Herrera and Iván García, CISO and Head of Networks and Security at the APBA respectively, focused their presentation on the ‘two sides of Artificial Intelligence’, both opportunity and threat, in order to delve into key aspects such as the democratisation of knowledge, awareness, misuse and the need for human supervision in the face of new models.
From this perspective, the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras has been promoting initiatives aimed at strengthening the physical and logical security of its infrastructure, as well as promoting a culture of cybersecurity awareness among the various actors operating both within the organisation itself and in the rest of the port ecosystem of the Bay.
