Summary:
The objective of the OptiPort project is to develop a simulation and optimization tool for seaside port operations based on probabilistic techniques to support decision-making processes at strategic level (long term).
This tool is very useful for port planning since it allows knowing the impact of certain decisions and evaluating the efficiency and quality of the service provided in the port. In particular, this optimization tool will help to identify the bottlenecks that may arise during the port operations and test alternative solutions to make an efficient use of port resources such as pilots, tugs, mooring man or the anchorage and berthing areas.
Innovación del proyecto:
- Simulation tool for seaside port operations in Algeciras Port, considering the operative areas, climate, maritime traffic, port assets, technical-nautical services and operational criteria.
Productos del proyecto:
Simulation tool for port planning that provides the following results for a specific scenario.
- Operability of port services.
- Utilization rate of technical-nautical services.
- Utilization rate of quays and docks
- Waiting time and utilization rate for the anchorage areas and terminals
Usability /application:
- Medium-long term planning and design (port planning)
- Evaluate at medium term nautical services demand
