MarineHound is a Malta-based start-up founded in 2021 whose mission is to drive the maritime industry towards a more sustainable future. The company is backed by a diverse team with extensive experience in engineering, gas analyzer technology and shipping regulation.
Its product, marinehound™, is based on a disruptive continuous remote pollution sensing technology that, located on a buoy, is able to autonomously monitor vessel emissions and determine, with the help of drones, whether they are using legal low sulfur (SOX) fuel, helping authorities monitor and enforce compliance with the MARPOL convention in a highly effective, sustainable and efficient manner.
The APBA collaborates with MarineHound in an innovative project, subsidized by the Puertos 4.0 capital fund of Puertos del Estado, and focused on testing this pioneering system in the facilities of the Port of Algeciras, as well as validating the business model of the solution with the stakeholders involved.
