The Algeciras Port Authority (APBA) and Algeciras Technology Campus Foundation (FCTA) open the registration period for the port innovation awards “Algeciras BrainPort”. The first edition initiative aims to recognize talent and promote innovation in the Port of Algeciras. The prize, valued at 1.200, and a six-month paid internship at the APBA will go to the best Master’s Thesis in the field of logistic port and maritime transport. All Masters students in Spanish and International Universities are eligible to apply.
Among the criteria for awarding the prizes (the bases are in this link), a highlight is placed on the degree of alignment of the topic with the innovation strategy of and current challenges faced by the Port of Algeciras. Moreover, the evaluation emphasizes the impact on the competitive advantage of the Port, the degree of maturity and novelty of the innovative proposal, the technical and/or technological feasibility and finally, the quality of the documents presented.
The theses will be analysed by a jury of seven members with both academic and professional backgrounds. The jury will announce the winner and deliver the prize at the beginning of 2019 in a public ceremony. The rules of the contest detail requirements for participation and the layout of the papers. The deadline for submitting applications is December 31, 2018 (inclusive).
