The start-ups and entrepreneurial projects taking part in the second edition of the Acceleration Programme run by the Centre for Digital Entrepreneurship in Port Logistics at the Port of Algeciras had the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the workings of one of Europe’s leading logistics hubs, thanks to an immersion day held on 7 July at the port’s facilities.
The visit, organised as part of the Misión Andalucía initiative, aimed to give participants an insight into the operational reality of the port logistics environment and to provide a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the sector. This practical experience forms part of the acceleration programme designed to help start-ups develop and validate innovative solutions applicable to real-world problems in the sector.
The day began at the Digital Entrepreneurship Centre, where attendees took part in a training session focused on the port ecosystem, addressing the role of the various stakeholders involved in logistics and maritime activity in the Bay of Algeciras, as well as the coordination mechanisms required to ensure the efficiency of the supply chain.
The entrepreneurs then visited the APBA’s Process Coordination Centre (CCP), a key facility for the supervision and coordination of port operations. During the tour, they learnt about the technological systems used to monitor and manage port activity, as well as the importance of digitalisation and data processing in operational decision-making.

The programme continued with a visit to the TTI Algeciras Container Terminal (TTIA), where participants were able to see first-hand how one of the Mediterranean’s leading terminals operates and learn about the processes involved in the management of cargo and maritime traffic. The day concluded with a tour of various port facilities, providing an overview of the scale, complexity and strategic importance of the Port of Bahía de Algeciras.
This activity forms part of the support measures planned within the acceleration programme launched by the Centre for Digital Entrepreneurship in Port Logistics, an initiative promoted under Misión Andalucía, the Andalusian Regional Government’s technological entrepreneurship programme aimed at driving forward innovative projects in strategic sectors.
Through experiences such as this, the Centre seeks to facilitate direct contact between entrepreneurs, companies and operators within the logistics and port ecosystem, fostering the development of solutions with the potential to contribute to the sector’s digital transformation, sustainability and competitiveness. In this way, the Port of Algeciras reinforces its commitment to establishing itself as a leading hub for innovation and entrepreneurship in maritime and port logistics.
